This week, the Shanklin Elementary cafeteria and school library collaborated to display cookbooks and books about food on the cafeteria serving line. How exciting! We love food and we love serving the student community at Shanklin Elementary. Happy Read Across America week!

Running on empty? Bad idea. Running to the cafeteria for breakfast and lunch? Genius. Don’t let hunger win—fuel up and stay sharp!

Honored to have Luling ISD recognized at the Capitol in both the House & Senate! Superintendent Warren, Board President Conley, and Trustee Rios proudly represented us, advocating for the future of public education. Staying informed & engaged is key to making a difference!

Hands-on learning in action! Our CTE students are taking their skills to the next level. Welding students are building a fully functional trailer, putting their craftsmanship and precision to the test. Coding students are coding a chessboard, sharpening their programming and problem-solving abilities. Barbering students are bringing their creativity to life by designing their own barbershop. These future professionals are proving that learning is more than just books—it’s about real-world experience, innovation, and career readiness! #LulingPrepare #LulingEmpower #LulingInspire

Congratulations to the Spotlight Students and Staff for February! The Spotlight Students are Charles McVay, a third grader at Shanklin, Adilynn Decamp, a sixth grader at Gerdes, and Shyann Vela a senior at LHS. Also, pictured are Ileana Rondan, our Spotlight student at LHS from December, and Mr. Corbin Patterson, Spotlight Staff member for February. #LulingPrepare #LulingEmpower #LulingInspire

In Ms. Segovia’s classroom, learning goes beyond math! While students collaboratively explore different types of quadrilaterals, they’re also building strong leadership skills. When a guest enters the room, a student-leader steps up to greet them with confidence and a handshake. Way to go, future leaders! #LulingLearns #LulingPrepare #LulingEmpower #LulingInspire

Food > Hunger Pains. Don’t let your stomach embarrass you in class—hit up the cafeteria for breakfast and lunch! Your brain (and your classmates) will thank you.

Our 11th grade U.S. History students are discovering how even a simple peanut butter and jelly sandwich played a role in the Civil Rights Movement! Activists relied on PB&J as an affordable, high-energy meal that could be packed for long days of peaceful protests, marches, and sit-ins. It was more than just a snack—it fueled the fight for equality!
Learning history isn’t just about dates and events—it’s about the everyday moments that shaped a movement. #LulingLearns #LulingPrepare #LulingEmpower #LulingInspire

We want to remind families about our Grab and Go breakfast cart at Shanklin Elementary! This cart features convenient K-12 compliant breakfast options for students who would like to bypass the cafeteria in the morning and head to an alternate destination. This is also a great option for students who may not arrive as early as others and risk missing instruction time if they stop at the cafeteria. At the Grab and Go cart, you can find individually wrapped cereal bars, whole grain animal crackers, dairy products like milk and string cheese, and a healthy fresh fruit option! Let's help our kiddos have a healthy meal each and every morning!

It's that time again Alumni! Dust off your equipment, and get you a fresh tube of joint cream ready so you can show these kids how it's done!
