We want to remind families about our Grab and Go breakfast cart at Shanklin Elementary! This cart features convenient K-12 compliant breakfast options for students who would like to bypass the cafeteria in the morning and head to an alternate destination. This is also a great option for students who may not arrive as early as others and risk missing instruction time if they stop at the cafeteria. At the Grab and Go cart, you can find individually wrapped cereal bars, whole grain animal crackers, dairy products like milk and string cheese, and a healthy fresh fruit option! Let's help our kiddos have a healthy meal each and every morning!

Over the next few weeks, students will be taking spring district assessments for all STAAR/EOC tested subjects and AP courses. These assessments help our teachers measure student progress and identify areas where extra support can make a big difference. The OnRamps US History’s students got to take a break from their college work to visit the Bob Bullock Museum! In observance of Black History Month, these students got to view the museum’s current showcased exhibit titled ‘A Better Life for Their Children.
This exhibit highlights the work of Booker T. Washington and Julius Rosenwald in creating nearly 5,000 schools to provide education to students affected by segregation throughout the South (one of which built in Luling itself)! In addition, they got to view artifacts and exhibits that highlight Texas history.
For the past few months, Luling ISD has been working on partnering with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to enhance security across all campuses! Troopers will office out of the high school and have an increased presence districtwide, so you’ll see DPS vehicles at our schools.
This partnership started with Constable Easterling’s idea to continue to strengthen school safety, and we’re grateful for his support.
Student safety is our top priority, and we’re excited about this added layer of protection!
In Ms. Leal's 8th Grade Science class, students investigate how mass is conserved in chemical reactions using a closed system. Then, they related the conservation of mass to the rearrangement of atoms in the chemical reaction by representing the chemical equation using modeling clay. #LulingPrepare #LulingEmpower #LulingInspire

Our 11th-grade U.S. History students have uncovered the surprising significance of SPAM, Tootsie Rolls, and Tabasco sauce to American soldiers during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam! From keeping troops fueled in the field to unexpected survival hacks, these everyday items played a crucial role in military history. #LulingLearns

Gerdes Jr. High Band students competed this past Saturday at All-Region Band auditions. Over a dozen school districts from the greater Central Texas area sent their best students to compete in head-to-head auditions, where the highest ranking earns a spot to represent Region 12 in Texas. The Region 12 band is made of the best of the best musicians, led by special guest conductors, and performs music that is very advanced for their grade level. Region 12 All-Region Band students are Peyton Skelf (8th Grade Trumpet), Justin Cruz (8th Grade Saxophone), Kori Hoelscher (8th Grade French Horn), Vida Mayberry (8th Grade Flute), and Jaxson Bohac (8th Grade Trombone). #LulingPrepare #LulingInspire
