CTE Month Highlights....Engineering with Mr. Smith
In the engineering program of study, students can expect rigorous classwork and challenging lab projects. They will design, draw and use CNC machines and 3D printers to create prototypes. First year students will learn to use Sketchup and AutCAD design softwares to create robotic arms, tower cranes and CO2 powered cars. Advanced students will develop competition projects related to Drones, Mobile Robotics and Arduino Electronics. A team of advanced students compete every year in a UIL robotics competition and an underwater Robotic challenge sponsored by NASA. Students can expect to do work with concepts and equipment they have never seen before and solve problems they have never encountered before. That is the nature of engineering. By the end of the program, students will have become familiar with AutoCAD, Python and Arduino Computer code and the Engineering Design and problem solving process. The next greatest innovations will come from a creative engineering mind. This program is perfect for our students who enjoy working with their hands, problem solving, and building confidence as an engineer.
