In 2003, our community experienced a tragic event that left a lasting impact. During a morning cross country practice, four student runners were struck by a vehicle. One of those runners, Leonel Roberto Morales, lost his life. Leonel was a dedicated athlete, a beloved teammate, and a young man full of promise. His memory continues to live on in the hearts of those who knew him and through the strength and resilience of our community. A plaque was originally placed to honor Leonel’s life and legacy. Over time, weather and the elements took their toll on that memorial. We are proud to share that a new plaque has been created, and we invite the community to come together once again to remember and honor Leonel. Thursday, April 17th at 6pm in front of Luling HS. This ceremony is a chance to recognize Leonel’s spirit, support those still affected by that day, and reaffirm our commitment to remembering those we have lost. Please join us as we unveil the new plaque and continue to keep Leonel Roberto Morales in our thoughts and hearts.
